Friendly: Moorlands College 6 - 2 TESTWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH
We were determined to beat Moorlands after previously losing 5-1 to them. Due to illness and injury however, we were unable to play our strongest side - in fact we just managed to scrape a team of eleven which meant we had no substitutes.
We had a harrowing start as within the first 10 minutes Terry and Roy Walton clashed heads, failing to call for the ball, and both were carried off the pitch! This meant that we were down to nine players, resulting in the referee (ref-ing his first match!) joining our side for 10 minutes before Roy was able to return to the pitch. This meant we still had only 10 men, and continued thus throughout the game, as Terry was unable to return.
Moorlands were strong and aggressive from the start and played the better football throughout most of the first half, although we were unfortunate not to clench a few goals during the first half. Jon Buss had a mixed performance in goal, and despite several brave saves he let in four unfortunate goals.

Half-time score. Moorlands College 4 - 0 TESTWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH

In the second half we adopted new tactics and a few alterations of positions on the field were made. This resulted with Rich Oag (The Boss!) trying his luck as goalkeeper, and Jon Buss going centre forward, both determined to make this successful.
Throughout the second half, we got our act together, passing the ball more effectively and with sheer determination. This resulted in our having a penalty awarded for handball inside the penalty box. PAUL DRAKE stepped up to take the penalty, scoring a terrific goal - his first of the season, sending the keeper the wrong way. This gave our team morale a boost and determination persisted. This was followed shortly by Nigel Hill setting up ROGER FRAPWELL by a long distance ball, which was controlled and placed past the 'keeper with good control.
Throughout the game our defence held up well, however several times the team was caught out of position and punished by several long range shots.

Final score.  Moorlands College 6 - 2 TESTWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH.

Man of the match went to Roy Walton for a sound game in defence.
