Friendly: St. Andrew's 3-1 TESTWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH

St. Andrew's had a reputation for being one of the more 'committed' teams in division one. This seemed fair enough as they hit the bar about 10 seconds after kick off!! Testwood's experimental defence of; Sheps, The Billows Boys, and Grant Angel coped fairly well after this, making a series of heroic tackles and blocks.

At the other end Frapwell dragged a one-on-one shot just wide. Rob Oag had a header from a corner hacked off the line and Chris Hendley fired in a low shot which went wide. However, during a heavy challenge, Hendley had to leave the field with concussion and a visit to the hospital was on the cards.

St. Andrew's proved to be a very good team and they took a well deserved lead after a sliced clearance was deflected across the Testwood box, and the SA striker was left with a simple chance.

Half Time: St. Andrew's 1-0 Testwood

Again, St. Andrew's started the better of the two sides and they extended their lead early in the second half, after suicidal Testwood defending gave them another soft goal.

Lack of quality service from the Testwood flanks meant that goal mouth action was in short supply at the other end. However, Graham McClaren ran half the length of the pitch, then screwed his shot narrowly wide. Neil Tuck shot high and wide from an impossible angle when a cross seemed the better option. McClaren then put Oag through, but his low shot was well saved.

With about 15 minutes to go, Testwood were awarded a freekick about 20 yards from goal. Up stepped CHRIS ALLCOCK to curl a magnificent effort into the top right corner.

However, St. A's restored their two goal advantage a short while later in controversial style. Jof Billows cleared his lines for a throw-in, and retrieved the ball as it had gone into some trees. But the SA player took a quick throw, while Jof was emerging from the undergrowth, to a striker who was now completely unmarked, who ran on to score. This was doubly bitter for Jof, as the referee had insisted that he re-take an earlier throw-in as an SA player was off the pitch.
