Guys like football so, for starters, that’s one very good reason a Church should have a football team.  Testwood Baptist Church wanted – and still wants - guys to see that Christians who play football are just normal guys… if there is such a thing.  Their tackling is just as hard and so is their desire to win, but there is a difference.  God is real and has made a difference in their lives and they’re not ashamed of it.

Having a football team has enabled many guys who don’t go to Church – and probably never would – to get a glimpse of  that .’difference’, that the whole ‘God thing’ is not some irrelevant crutch for the elderly but rather is something not only very real and relevant, but life changing… For some, the football team has been a starting point for peoples’ spiritual journeys.  Nothing is ever pressured, but there is always the opportunity for people to take things further if they wish.  So, if you’re one of those who wonders what on earth ‘God’ or ‘Church’ could do for you, read on… ask when the next ‘ ALPHA ’ supper is, take a look at what it means to be a Christian, or read how several guys have found answers to their questions.  You know, the ‘big’ sort… the sort that guys usually only talk about at funerals or when they’re drunk.  Why am I here?  What’s my purpose?  What’s life really all about?  How can you make relationships work?  What can I do with my guilt?  Is there life after death?  Does it matter anyway?  Probably all more important than knowing whether or not you’ll be picked next week, eh?  Enjoy the site, and send us your feedback of any TBC Footy Team trivia you can remember… And as for what league… well, we joined the Solent Church Football league… eventually. A standard a little lower than the Premiership, but just as exciting. The rest, they say, is history. Good job too!!
